DIY Hunters Decor

Today I wanna show you what I made for my sons 16th Birthday last week! He's got a passion for hunting, or should I say anything outdoors.

I know he has been pondering some new bedroom decor ideas. And hunting was gonna be the theme. So I cruised Pinterest and put a few ideas together! And this is what I came up with!!

Originally my idea was to use shotgun shells. But I didn't have much luck finding them. But some good friends gave me an entire tote fulls of shell casings! SCORE!! I'll make it work!

This project took about 5 hours and about 500 shell casings to complete. But the look on his face was priceless! He told me this was better than anything we could have ever bought him.

I really was thinking that this is something he would keep forever. He could hang in his own garage or man cave someday.

First I taped 6 pieces of paper together to make 1 big piece of paper (and because I didn't have any poster board on hand). And then drew the size of the "Browning" logo that I wanted.

I first hot glued sections together in groups of four.

Now moving it onto the barn board was tricky. But I had glued them into sections. Example his antlers were one piece, the nose another piece....

Once I had it all in place on the barn board, I then glued it around the edges. And for this step I used a combination of Gorilla Glue, and Loctite G02 Glue. And let it cure for 48 hours to make sure it set. This was quite heavy once it was all complete.

Happy 16 year old!!!

Whatcha think??!!!

  5. This is awesome! My son's 16th birthday party was at Bass Pro, so I understand the need for "outdoorsy" things.
