Betty MJ's Pink Tank Top~N~Denim Cabinet

My Betty MJ scored this cabinet at a friends garage sale.

This was after it was given a good sanding.

I asked her how she chose the colors and she said she was walking through the paint isle and spotted the color Denim. And then thought.. pink is a cute summer color...Why not!

I love these colors together and would have never thought of them on a piece of furniture.

One of my favorite Betty MJ projects!!!

Relay for Life for Gramps

This last weekend my family and I participated in the Relay for Life walk in Le Mars Iowa in memory of our grandpa.
He lost his battle with cancer in February of this year. From the time he was diagnosed to the time he made his trip home was a very short 3 months. In that time it brought us as a family very close and to realize life is just too short.

This picture of grandma and grandpa was taken about 4 weeks after he was diagnosed.

Below is a picture of grandma and grandpa and almost all of us grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Le Mars Community Schools Stadium

The evening kicked off with a beautiful ceremony, including a few survivor speakers.
Below is their local boy scout troop  raising the flag during the opening ceremony.

We picked the color green for our team shirts because the was grandpas favorite color (well maybe not lime green LOL).

A few pics of our team in action!

Here are a couple other team areas. Very creative!!

As the sun set I snapped this beautiful picture.
And then we all lit our luminaries in memory of the loved ones lost.

Here are a few of our luminaries we decorated.
You bought the bag and then you got to decorate it however you wanted.

During the event the local radio station was there jamin some tunes to keep everyone motivated. And here we are doin some dancing to keep the gang going (about midnight or so).

This picture was taken by their local radio station KLEM 1410. My lil cousin and I are famous! LOL Well maybe not famous but not we made their website!

What a fun evening with the family. And we are all looking forward to making this an annual event we all attend together.

In Memory of our Husband, Dad, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather.
You are very loved and missed!

Frat House Party Table!

My cousin Colby is a student at The University of South Dakota. And is a member of the Fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon. He asked me if I could make him a coffee table for his frat house with their school logo on it.
So I followed the same plans as the DIY Patio Table, and just a few adjustments. He wanted it about 3ft long and 2 1/2 ft wide.
You can see the full tutorial on the little square table...click below.
After the table was built and painted I brought it in the basement so I could use my mini-projector to outline the logo. I haven't use it very much, so any chance I get to use it I will jump on it.
This particular projector was fairly inexpensive at Michael's. I used a Sunday paper coupon for 50% off a regular priced item. So I believe it cost me around $15-20?? But does work really well for small projects.

One thing with using a projector is positioning... tricky tricky LOL

After the logo was outlined I had several examples on hand there to make sure I got it right. Then I grabbed my small paint brushes and started a painting...

After this was dry, I took it outside and put some polyurethane on it.
Several layers of it actually. Because I have a pretty good idea what this table will be used for... Playing soda pop games...or bridge???

I'm gonna deliver this beauty to him this weekend!
EXCITING!!!
