Yard Bench Redo- in Memory of Jason

I got this old yard bench for FREE! And finally I had a reason/theme to redo it.

A friend of mine that grew up on the same block as me was killed in a car accident this summer. And his family is having a benefit to raise money to pay for his funeral expenses. So they had asked me if I would make something and donate it for the silent auction. So I thought that something little wouldn't probably bring in a lot of money. But this bench may help! And it is kickoff season!

I had a feeling the wood would still be good after I sanded it down.

After Sanding..

I did apply a light coat of primer. Then once I started painting I didn't really care for the back metal piece.

So Decided it had to go! Unscrewed it and it was gone!

I taped it off before I spray painted the arms and legs.

I cut and screwed a board to the back, and this helped support it. Because it was pretty wobbly. And then hand painted the Husker logo.

This is Jason and his daughter.

I will always remember the great times we all had growing up. From bikes and skateboards, to sneakin over to Snyders Pond to fish.

Rest in Peace Bud!

    1. Thank You Meredith. It is just a sad sad situation. When his mother came and got this bench, you could just see the hurt in her. And I just can't imagine losing a son, or a child period. Heart Breaking. But thank you for takin a peek at the bench. Have a great weekend!!!
