What Do I Drive?

This weeks Nebraska Link Up Theme:

What do I drive?

I Drive 2006 Dodge Ram, V8 Big Horn Edition...No big deal!
LOL
A.K.A. Big Red Rita

Actually I drove a lot of real "pieces" till I got my truck! And she got the name because everyone in NE names their red vehicles "Big Red" "Herbie", and I didn't want that. So Red Rita came to me and it stuck!

She has came in handy raising boys. This pic was takin last year at the state trap shoot meet in Donophan NE. Rita was the hang out truck! And Christian thought it was pretty cool that everyone wanted to hang in his "Moms" truck. LOL Who doesn't want to be the cool mom?!!

I'm gonna copy what Suzi's got going on. This was almost exactly like my first car. 1985 Monte Carlo! It was my uncles, he had bought it brand spankin new. He had put these 2 HUGE speaker boxes in the back seat, and everytime ya hit the gas...weeeee....weeeeeerrrrreeee.
Seriously Uncle Scott? Maybe they were the shiznit in 1985, but not so much. LOL

Oh the memories in that thing!!

My DIY Patriotic Yard Decor

I was looking around at my yard the other day (it's always work in progress it seems) and thought I need some Patriotic Decoration!!

So, Betty MJ had just given me this mini pallet that she had left over (cutest thing ever, and hard to find). It was the perfect size!!!

A little chevron paint action...VOILA!!

Happy 4th my Blogger Friends!!!

Recued Wood

I gotta show you what I did with my rescued wood I got at Junkstock!!

I bought it from this guy (forgot his name) and he was with A&R Salvage and Recycling in Omaha NE. They salvage and dismantle old buildings among other things as well.

I ended up buying several pieces because really? Look at it....Beautiful! And as soon as I seen it I knew exactly what I was gonna do with it!
And actually alot of people saw me carrying this around and asked me where I got it and what I was gonna do with it.
Well.....

When I got home I took 2 pieces and nailed them together with some scrap lattice I had left over from another project.

And you can't really see in this pic below, but there is a Command Strip on the piece on lattice.

(And let me tell you these things are THE BEST!! Our walls are plaster and nails are not so friendly, unless you want a hole in your wall!!) Highly recommend!

And there you have it!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!

This is just one of the project pieces I bought at junkstock last weekend! Oh I've a few more up my sleeve, just you wait!!

Tell me what you might have done with it?? Because I DO have a few extra pieces!

Hey come check out what I got at the Fall Junkstock!

JUNKSTOCK Spring 2013

Junkstock Spring 2013

Ok I hafta say I had the BEST time!

I have been waiting for this for a couple months!

Junkstock is the Midwest's premiere event for architectural salvage, antiques, repurposed jewelry, one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, primitives, shabby chic, vintage clothing, and all things old and unique. Vendors from all over the Midwest gather on a repurposed dairy farm just outside of Omaha, NE to showcase their goods. Amazing local music, food vendors, and activities for all ages make this an event you have to put on your annual junking calendar.

And to make it even better...
I won $50 JunkStock Bucks on Facebook!!

Stay tuned for pics of my JunkStock adventures!

peace out!

Zech's Wedding Wagon Redo

A friend of mine asked me if I could "dress up" (aka paint) a wagon for her brothers wedding. So she searched around and luckily scored one at a Goodwill of all places for $5! OK... first to find one at a Goodwill, and second $5?? Seriously?!?! SCORE!

I was told the colors, and sent a pic of the wedding invitation. I kinda knew what she had wanted, but the pressure of making something for someones special day.... I thought don't screw this one up Shelly!

As you can see it had a little bit of a rust issue. So we used a wire wheel attached to a grinder to get the surface rust off. This was my first "rust project" so the hubby was glad to step in and help me out!

We weren't able to get the the wagon apart because all the bolts were rusted. So it definitely made it more tedious to paint.

This below is after the gray spray paint primer was sprayed on. I used Rustoleum (cause its my favorite).

Oops, a few spray paint dribbles. No problem, I just sanded (by hand) so they were smooth.

Then applied Rustoleum textured Metallic spray paint. Absolutely gorgeous in the sun! The sparkles just made it shine. And of course this will definitely be something I use again on another project!

I hand painted the wheels and axles.

And then hand painted the lettering! TaDA!!

And then she had a silk pillow made for the inside. Simple and beautiful!!

How pretty are those buttons!!!

I can't wait to see what it'll look like in the wedding!! And then to see what they do with it after....a planter for the front yard or a inside decoration?!

All in all, I think my first wagon redo was a SUCCESS!!

What do you think?
Where would you put this after your big day??
