Vintage Dresser ~ Big Blue

I scored this Blue Vintage Dresser from Craigslist last winter for $25! Of course it's been sitting in the garage for quite some time. I loved it, but just wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with it.

Well it dawned on me to put some legs on it and use it as an entertainment center! And I say add legs because the only air vent we have in the living room is of course under the TV. So the air needed to get through.

First we took out the drawers. And excuse the white little specks on them. That's actually Styrofoam from another project. When my husband was cutting it, the wind was blowing all the little white thingy's (LOL) where everywhere.

I love this blue color and the vintage handles!

The legs are actually spindles from Menards. I believe they were less than $3 a piece.

Now this next step was a job for the hubby. He has a "Kreg Jig" and it allows you to screw at an angle. Very cool tool, I just haven't learned to use it yet.

As you can see, the screws are at an angle.

Next step was to stain the wood.

And now... Here is Big Blue!

I tried "distressing" it a little and the blue peeled off in some sections. Which revealed this beautiful coral blue color! And I thought it definitely made it even better!

  1. I love a great vintage find. It looks great as an entertainment center. Don't you think those layers of paint just tell a story? I love that!

  5. I love how you added legs to this piece. My husband also has a Kreg Jig and learning to use it is on my "to do" list. Thanks for sharing with this week's Throwback Thursday party.
