Kitchen Reno Part 2

Finally I get to show off our Kitchen Renovation part 2!

To see the Kitchen Renovation from the very beginning

It's been a long time coming. We finally agreed on a counter top and sink.
My dream sink is a white farmhouse sink but..I had to be realistic. Even though Mr. Minttesmaze looked all over trying to find one within our budget. We found this one and I loved it! It lays flat to the counter top.
We went with laminate because of course it was within budget. And I am totally OK with that. We had to special over this particular one because I didn't want the same laminate counter tops that everyone else has. I had to wait for it but it was worth it!!!

Here is before the counter tops arrived.

We didn't have a dishwasher before so we put some shelf liner on the plywood to protect it from getting wet/ruined.
Haha Our Hill Billy temporary counter top.

Back splash...schmack lash...
I have looked and looked and never did find anything that just jumped out at me....well that I could afford anyway. And then I seen Paint-able Wall Paper! Oh heck yeah! So i headed to good ol Menards!

3 layers of paint to realize I didn't like any of them.

After I slept on it...I decided to rip the piece behind the sink off, and cover the wall instead of just a strip.
And let me tell you...I discovered I am NOT a wall paper hanger person! Not fun!!

Total cost for the back splash..less than $40! And I even have some wallpaper left over! BooYA!

And here ya have it, ALL DONE!

This is the paint I used and got the look I wanted!

I even dug out my antique Blue Mason Jars from our Vintage Wedding to hold sugar and coffee! Kinda of a DUH moment, why didn't I think of that before?!
Because lets face it...those are the essentials!

Now I actually have a space I want to be in!!!!

  7. Enjoyed your kitchen makeover. I gutted our kitchen last year and have it all completed except for the back splash. I just haven't found the right tile yet, but I have had 2 rolls of a similar wallpaper that looks like tin. After seeing yours, I am going for it this week! Thanks so much for sharing.

  10. Well done, Shelley! The after pics are lovely and the kitchen has undergone such a transformation! Loving the gray walls as well. One question, though? You stated the the counter tops are a special order laminate? Can you tell us where you purchased them and the cost of having them ordered and installed? They look like marble!!

  11. Love Love Love the back splash. The whole kitchen is really nice and you did a great job. Love the colors as well. Can you give a little more detail about how you applied the back splash (paintable wallpaper). I have been dying to use it and if you don't mind can you tell me what you did to apply it. I really appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you and a really great job.

  12. I love how your backsplash looks like tin! Has it held up so far? I hate hanging wallpaper too but I'd say this was worth it! It's just beautiful ( and so is the rest of your kitchen!). Just wow.
