A Day In "The Good Life" Link-Up #1

Well my days all kind of start out different. I work full time at  a local hospital 3 days a week (12 hour shifts) in the Heart Monitoring Unit.

Those days start at an early 4:15am! Still dark outside, I roll outta the rack...aka bed and enjoy my delicious Dunkin Donuts coffee (its like an addiction). Have a little morning chat with the hubbs and I'm off! They are long work days, 6am-6:30pm.

My wonderful husband then gets our precious little angels ready to go to school (sarcasm, because it usually involves a brotherly morning tussle). Then he's off to work as well.

On the days I work, it sure don't leave much time to do anything. I don't usually get home till almost 7. And by then I'm usually spent!

But the days I don't work, you can usually find me in my maze of a cave (aka garage)!

Excuse the mess! I've been working my tail end off with projects! If I'm not in there, I'm cleaning our house. Boys are...can I say little piggies sometimes. LOL!

Then it's homework for the boys, and dinner time.

And on most days we talk on facetime with my nephew, because he has to see and talk to aunt TeeTee! Gosh that kid makes my heart big!

Then a little blog time and then the bed is usually calling my name.

Since I live in Nebraska and we get ALL FOUR SEASONS. It depends on what the season is and where you will find me on the weekends. Aside from the kids sports and activities throughout the year.

Football season.... you can find us at a garage party watching the BIG RED GAME!

Summer....

Swimming and enjoying the outdoors!

Spring.... Cleaning and Organizing!

Winter....well....

We attend the Duck Races in Avoca Ne in January! If you never been, its a must!

And that pretty much sums it up! That's my days and seasons in a nut shell!

UpCycled Picture from a Thrift Store

I had found a couple pictures while I was out thrifting. I didn't care what the picture was, I was looking at the frame.

I painted chalkboard paint on the glass.

And here again I used fabric flowers to give it a little Bling!

I just hot glued them on.

Between the fabric flowers I put some small shredded pieces of burlap. And again used buttons that look like brooches for the center of the flower.

This was a baby shower gift for my cousin CJ. The crown was a thick cardboard material, and I got it from Hobby Lobby. Then I spray painted it gold. The frame itself was already gold. And in the center of the flower I just used a dazzling rhinestone!

My 2nd Attempt at Re-purposed Pallet Art!!!

A repurposed pallet Bench!

This Project took 1 pallet and a few boards from another to make the support boards on the side.

Start by cutting down the middle, and this will make 2 benches. But remember all pallets are different. What works one time may not another.

These 2 boards (below) are actually from the center section of another pallet. (the boards in between the top and bottom boards) Hope that makes sense.

Cut them in half, these are your legs!

Then I screwed them to into place.

They legs are too wobbly alone, so you will have to brace on the inside and out. On both sides.

These little boards that I placed in between I found on the bargain rack at Menards.
29 cents, not too shabby. Needless to say I bought quite a few of em. I know they will be handy for other projects also.

Cut and nail them in place.

I didn't paint this top one, just because I like the look.
And this bottom one is lightly painted white. The white won't be as bright as it sits outside awhile.

And here is my attempt at a colorful one.

Paint the colors in no particular order.

I cut yard sticks to size, then rubbed the stain on them.
I applied a coat of paint on top of the colors.

One the paint is dry, then sand.

After you sand to the level you like, then rub the same stain on the wood as well. Until you get the color you want to achieve. I applied a few more after this picture was taken and the wood became darker and I thought looked better.

Don't forget to check out my 1st version of a re-purposed pallet bench, it's under the post "The day I got my 1st Jigsaw!"

New CARDS! AWESOME!

CHECK OUT THE NEW CARDS!!!!

What a little FLARE can do!

I bought this lamp at the Dollar General store. For the shade and base, it was a total of $12.

But of course I couldn't leave it at that. I had to add some flare! I remembered making all the little fabric flowers for our wedding (that I found how to make on Pinterest). And thought, hey those would look good on this shade!

$7 lamp base and $5 shade

The fabric flowers I made for the groom and groomsmen.

Hot glued them to the shade and BAM!

The flowers were then hot glued on the shade. And to add the brooch look in the middle. These are actually buttons that you can buy at Walmart in the craft section for $2.

Sometimes just a little flare on a not so expensive item can make a difference!

OOps, don't look at the crook-ed pic in the hall, LOL
